On February 1st, Desso's recently installed yellow checker board Lita carpet tiles contributed to the atmosphere at a new exhibition centre in Krakow, Poland which was honouring the work of the Polish poet Wislawa Szymborska (2 July 1923 - 1 February 2012), on the first anniversary of her death. The Desso Lita carpets had been bought and installed by the Finnish furniture company, Martela.
Described by many as a 'Mozart of poetry'. Szymborska won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1996 and inspired thousands of poetry readers across the world.
Anna Komorowska, wife of Poland's President, Bronisław Maria Komorowski attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition entitled the 'Szymborska drawer'.
"I am delighted that Desso has played a part in this important exhibition on one of Poland's prized poets - helping to make it a success,"
Andrew Sibley, Regional Managing Director of Desso.
The exhibition is similar to a stage set, a three-dimensional collage, in which the poet's belongings are juxtaposed with quotes from the works, photographs of people, things and places. They lead the viewer into Szymborska's private world of poetic imagination and intellectual inspiration.
This exhibition will move to Rome and reproduction prints will be exhibited in South Korea.
