Desso wins Mix Interior’s Product of the Year Award

Desso developed the revolutionary light transmissive carpet in partnership with Philips Lighting towards the end of 2013, with the official unveiling of the product taking place during this year's Clerkenwell Design Week. An industry first, the patented flooring solution combines LED lighting with light transmissive carpet.

The overriding goal of the carpet innovation is to fundamentally transform how people interact with a space. It turns the flooring into a dynamic canvas with endless applications engaging directly with our senses and natural inclination to seek out light.

“This is a key award for Desso and we know it’s a particularly challenging category to win so we are thrilled with the result and the recognition from our peers across the industry. The Desso/Philips light transmissive carpet has been borne from a desire to create innovative interior design installations that contribute to people’s health and wellbeing delivering meaningful solutions that matter to businesses and organisations. The Mixology Product of the Year award is a fantastic endorsement of what we are trying to achieve and we are delighted with the result.”

David Nicholls, Sales and Marketing Director for Desso in the UK & Republic of Ireland

“Through our partnership with Desso we’ve been able to push the boundaries and produce a product with enormous potential. The light transmissive carpet offers countless benefits to businesses, the technology takes advantage of the tendency to be guided by the floor when moving through a space and can be used to provide directional information, the latest business news or safety exits.” “It can also display videos, infographics, logos, be used to share and celebrate an occasion, highlight an important guest – or simply inform visitors of the current waiting time. Creativity and imagination are the only limitations to its application. “
