The World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa 2015 is bringing together over 800 key leaders from government, business and civil society to support a comprehensive and forward-looking vision for prosperity and peace in the region.
One of the recurring topics is the circular economy
The World Economic Forum is an International Institution committed to improving the state of the world through public-private cooperation and engages political, business, academic and other leaders of society in collaborative efforts to shape global, regional and industry agendas. One of the recurring topics on the World Economic Forum agenda is that of the circular economy, a regenerative model by which industry develops new ways of recycling, remanufacturing and reusing products via a healthy and non-toxic closed loop system.
Desso has been making the transition to the circular economy through its own business activities according to Cradle to Cradle® principles since 2008. There will be discussions on the future shaping of a sustainable future for the region including a focus on the circular economy and its implications for the Middle East and North Africa. In making Cradle to Cradle® a key part of its strategy, Desso works towards excellence across five key areas: Material health, material reutilization, water stewardship, renewable energy and social fairness.
Since the beginning of 2014, Desso has also been a steering group member of the World Economic Forum's Project MainStream, a cross-industry collaborative initiative to find new ways to scale up the circular economy.
