First carpet in the world to achieve Gold Cradle to Cradle® certificate

Desso is the first carpet manufacturer in the world to be awarded a Gold Cradle to Cradle® certificate for a complete carpet tile collection - a result of seven years of work. To reach this golden milestone, Desso has had to fulfil a broad range of tough environmental and human health criteria, as defined within the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Product Standard. This framework for innovation highlights that 'designing with purpose' makes good business sense and at the same time positively impacts the environment and human health.

Gold Collection was shortlisted after meeting the environmental and sustainable criteria

The Gold collection is made up of existing Desso designs: Tweed Gold, Sand Gold, Reclaim Ribs Gold and Fields Gold. These collections were the most suitable for an upgrade to Gold in aesthetic terms, but also in view of the yarn composition and backing, which had to be recyclable according to Cradle to Cradle® principles.

The Gold Collection was shortlisted after meeting the environmental and sustainable criteria in several categories, including material health and reutilisation, renewable energy, water stewardship and social fairness.
